For the first time in its 195-year history, Pringle of Scotland is creating an archive of the classic British brand. The idea came about after several items were recently uncovered at the Pringle of Scotland mill in Hawick, Roxburghshire in southern Scotland. But now they want your help.
Here's how: Pringle of Scotland is urging you to contribute to the archive by giving away anything that might relate to the history of the heritage brand. Whether it be a vintage item of clothing by the label, photos of people wearing Pringle, old adverts from magazines or just anecdotes from those who have worked for or with the label over the years. No matter how small, Pringle want to see it.
Think you've got something to add to the archive? Then Pringle would like to invite you to the brand's open day, called the Day Of Record, on 12 August at the Pringle of Scotland factory in Hawick so that you can bring in your treasures and memorabilia.
Don't worry if you don't live in the area and can't make it on the day, you can email dayofrecord@pringlescotland.com and get in touch directly with Pringle's head office to discuss how you can donate your item to the archive.
A digital retrospective of the Pringle archive will be collated, featuring a mixture of the visual, textual and anecdotal contributions, which will then be used for an exhibition during London Fashion Week in February 2011.
