Oxfam has thrown open the virtual doors to its latest fashion offering: an online vintage charity shop.
Following on from the successes of its e-commerce boutique (which brilliantly eliminates all that pesky rail rummaging for the sartorial sloths amongst us), this new, dedicated area of the site promises to stock the biggest selection of vintage clothing anywhere online, featuring men's and women's clothing and accessories from the '50s through to the '80s.
"The beauty of fashion is that it can be recycled and reused again and again, with a treasured item donated by one person offering endless possibilities for someone else," says Sarah Farquhar, Oxfam's head of retail. "Our new vintage site is an opportunity for us to share some of the amazing items we have donated to our shops with an even wider audience and to raise more money for our work around the world."
As well as genuine finds, the vintage site features plenty of compelling reading in the shape of blogs, advice and inspiration from Oxfam's guest style gurus - Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson, BBC vintage expert Katherine Higgins and stylist to the stars Fee Doran among them. Plus, of course, you can shop safe in the knowledge that not only are you doing your bit for the environment by recycling, but the money that you're spending in doing so goes to a great cause.
