Want to shop the best of New York's independent boutiques but don't fancy the six-hour flight? Then you're in for a treat, because they are coming to you.
In a first, and for one month only, 12 New York boutiques from the city's cool Lower East Side district will take-over two pop-up shops in London's iconic Carnaby Street area, bringing the best of New York's boutique fashion to the UK.
The two pop-up stores open their doors this Saturday 3 October from 11am with complimentary bagels and blueberry muffins to enjoy while browsing the rails. There will also be New York style street vendors at the Big Apple food market in Foubert's Place between 1 and 6pm, serving up tasty American treats for weary shoppers, including hot dogs, cream cheese bagels and pizza, as well as chocolate brownies, candy floss and popcorn for those with a sweet tooth. If that wasn't enough, Londoners can take a ride in a traditional New York taxi to the Newburgh Quarter for free just by quoting the password Newburgh' to the driver if you spot and stop one of the famous yellow cabs.
Designers making the trip across the pond include In God We Trust, Reed Space, Wendy Mink Jewellery, By Robert James, Zarin Fabric and Earnest Sewn, with a host of free shopping events taking place throughout the month. On Thursday 8 October there will be a discount shopping night where you can enjoy a hefty 20 per cent discount at the stores, an American style block party on Sunday 18 October and a Halloween shindig with DJs and live entertainment on Saturday 31 October.
Shoppers can find the two pop-up stores at 3 Lowndes Court, W1F 7HD and 8 Newburgh Street, W1F 7RJ in London's Newburgh Quarter.
