Much envied for their personal collection of kooky eyewear, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will now turn their hand to designing sunglasses as part of their luxury label, The Row
The collection, which launches next spring, will initially feature four key styles: a classic metal aviator, an oversized pair with square frames, vintage-inspired shades with brow line rims and a '60s style with round frames (a classic Mary-Kate look). The designer sunglasses will be priced from approximately £205 to £250.
The pint-sized trendsetters will design the line, while the London-based Linda Farrow (who has previously created eyewear for Dries Van Noten, Luella and Jeremy Scott) will produce the range.
Ashley Olsen told WWD, "We're testing the market first and obviously these are four very different silhouettes, so we're seeing what people are responding to and we'll open up a couple more shapes for autumn."
She added, "We tried to find certain pieces that look good on more than one face shape, to pay close attention to how they fit certain faces and make them more wearable at the same time."
The twins are no strangers to designing having successfully launched not one but two clothing lines, The Row, with its couture-like tailoring, and Elizabeth and James, a more contemporary brand. The one-time actresses also collaborated with Robert Lee Morris on a collection of costume jewellery as part of their Elizabeth and James line.
