Leading UK charity ActionAid has unveiled a T-shirt to mark this year's PoverTee Day on 26 June 2009.Designed by Maria Grachvogel, who counts Angelina Jolie, Victoria Beckham and Scarlett Johansson as fans, the white T-shirt features a black rose print, retailing at £10, which is available online with all proceeds going to the ActionAid charity. Furthermore, the London-based designer has created a limited edition T-shirt (only 25 have been produced) with a red rose print which are on sale now exclusively in the Maria Grachvogel flagship store on London's Sloane Street, retailing at £25.
ActionAid is encouraging people across the UK to swap their usual workwear or everyday clothes for a T-shirt for its PoverTee Day on Friday 26 June and donate £2 to the charity.
Maria Grachvogel said, "I am honoured to be asked to create a PoverTee Day T-shirt to support ActionAid's work fighting global poverty and injustice. ActionAid is an outstanding organisation that makes a real difference to the world."
The designer says of her design, "The rose is essentially a very British symbol and is universally used to illustrate hope and vitality. I therefore thought it was a very appropriate way of communicating Action Aid's message."
All proceeds from the Maria Grachvogel T-shirts range goes to the ActionAid PoverTee Day campaign.
ActionAid aims to raise money and awareness for global poverty.
