It's a case of classic meets cool, with the announcement that one of London Fashion Week's brightest stars Louise Goldin is creating a capsule collection for Italian cashmere brand Ballantyne.
The British designer, hailed for her stylistic innovations in knitwear design, is creating a 40-piece range for autumn/winter 2009 which will include short dresses, skirts and tops in her trademark bold colours such as blue, purple and coral. Prices will range between about £400 and £550.
Giuseppe Rossi, Ballantyne's chief executive officer, told Women's Wear Daily, "Goldin is an unquestionable talent in our field and we liked the idea of linking our experience to her creative skills and at the same time strengthening our British roots."
Goldin, a Central Saint Martin's graduate who launched her eponymous line in 2007, shows bi-annually at London Fashion Week. She has designed her own range for Topshop.
Ballantyne was established in Scotland in 1921.
