With London Fashion Week just a couple of weeks away (yes, it really is that time of year again) the buzz has already started to build in anticipation of the looming whirlwind of shows and parties. And now, thanks to the clever people at the British Fashion Council, you can get a lot closer to the action and enjoy watching the catwalk shows as they happen from the comfort of your own home.
Yes, that's right, London Fashion Week is going digital. The British Fashion Council announced today that it will live stream all the upcoming autumn/winter 2010 shows, which kick off on 19 February, live on its website. All of the designers showing at the official Somerset House venue will have access to the service, as well as other on-schedule designers who will live stream footage from their shows at other venues across the capital, giving you front row seats to the likes of the Christopher Kane, Burberry Prorsum and Paul Smith shows just by logging on.
This revolutionary and shrewd move by the British Fashion Council (they are the first of the big four fashion week organisers to embrace the digital medium) will also see short fashion films screened in-between shows by a bunch of designers, including Antoni & Alison, Twenty8Twelve, Danielle Scutt, Hussein Chalayan and Boudicca, on its site.
Caroline Rush, chief executive officer of the British Fashion Council, said, "This is a significant step in developing our digital strategy. Enhancing designers' experience and reach through London Fashion Week is an important area of development for the future."
See you on the front row!
The London Fashion Week digital schedule launches on Friday 19 February from londonfashionweek.co.uk/digitalschedule.
