English design legend Sir Paul Smith scooped the best British luxury brand prize at last night's Walpole awards ceremony.
The much-loved designer, who was knighted for his services to the fashion industry in 2000, beat off stiff competition from Burberry, Harrods, John Smedley, Mulberry and Quintessentially to win the night's biggest prize. French fashion label Louis Vuitton was awarded the international luxury brand prize, while The Savile Row Bespoke Association picked up the award for best craftsmanship. Other big winners on the night included Astley Clarke for British luxury brand online, Links of London for best British luxury brand overseas and Peruvian photographer Mario Testino, who scooped this year's Medal of Excellence.
Scottish actor Tom Conti played host for the evening at the glittering Walpole event at London's Banqueting House in Whitehall, with a whole host of the industry's leading figures in attendance, including Savannah Miller of Twenty8Twelve and Harrods' managing director Michael Ward.
Walpole is a non-profit making organisation that represents the British luxury industry.
