Katie Holmes is giving friend Victoria Beckham a run for her money in the clothes designing stakes with the news that the American actress and wife of Tom Cruise will launch her debut designer fashion range in September.
The "premium designer" collection, a co-venture between Holmes and her stylist Jeanne Yang called Holmes & Yang, will be available this autumn and will feature "classic pieces" for women, as well as childrenswear, according to WWD.
Rumours of a clothing line began swirling last year after Holmes was snapped at several red carpet events wearing creations designed by herself and Yang. She wore a midnight blue dress with a leather bustier in August 2008 to the Los Angeles premiere of husband Tom Cruise's film, Tropic Thunder, and a cream jumpsuit with lace sleeves to a New York party following her Broadway debut in the play All My Sons in October last year.
Holmes and Yang are keeping schtum on what to expect from the range, but with the actress' glossy, sophisticated style - all cocktail dresses, chic tailoring and red carpet worthy pieces - it promises to be elegant and ladylike.
The Holmes & Yang autumn/winter 2009 line will be available to buy exclusively at the Maxfield boutique in Los Angeles, California.
