Jeans for Genes harnesses star power

Now in its 14^th year, a whole host of well-known names and faces - among them Jaime Winstone, Jodie Kidd and Zoe Ball - are giving their support to this year's Jeans for Genes campaign.

It couldn't be simpler to get involved. Simply pay £2 for the privilege of wearing your favourite denims to work (or school) on Friday, and you'll be contributing to the £32m already raised by the charity to support children and families affected by genetic disorders.

What's more, while jeans are the fashion order of the day (obviously), the style credentials of this year's event have skyrocketed thanks to a link-up between the charity and London College of Fashion. The capital's most promising design talents have created a collection of limited edition T-shirts, umbrellas and bags that will compliment your look whether you opt for demure skinnies, baggy boyfriends or OTM ripped knees.

Also backing the campaign is Donna Ida, founder of one of London's foremost independent jeans boutiques, which is stocking the iconic DNA strand T-shirt modelled by Winstone (as well as the limited edition MiTo jeans she wears it with, should you feel like splurging).

"Jeans for Genes is a fantastic charity who are doing important work in the field of genetic research," Ida says. "Using fashion as a platform for raising awareness always works; I think anyone who has a voice should try and use it to help causes like Jeans for Genes."
