The project will act as an online platform showcasing new and rising design talent, with two featured designers each season. The new scheme allows visitors to the site to click through an online lookbook of the collection before placing their order. Genius.
This season's featured designers making their retail debut are Manjit Deu and Iris van Herpen. The collection by Londoner Deu, a former London College Of Fashion student, features feminine pieces - think evening dresses and casual classics - in a red and blue colour palette against a crisp white background and adorned with sequins, while Dutch designer van Herpen's range is a conceptual collection of futuristic, sculptured pieces with architectural lines in black, nude and silver.
Marigay McKee, fashion and beauty director at Harrods, says, "Each London Fashion Week we're always impressed by the ingenuity and ideas displayed and I'm thrilled that this new initiative will help launch the careers of young designers."
Visit Harrods.com to view the collections and place orders by emailing the designers on manjit.deu@harrodslaunches.com and iris.vanherpen@harrodslaunches.com or calling 020 7225 5634.
