Luxury British knitwear brand John Smedley is celebrating its 225th anniversary this month by launching an exclusive range of loungewear and underwear.The quintessentially English label, which was founded in 1784 by John Smedley and Peter Nightingale (great uncle of Florence Nightingale) and is famous for its quality luxury knitwear, will launch the limited edition autumn/winter 2009 collection of loungewear and underwear in-store and online from mid-July.
The range, made from luxurious Sea Island cotton and Merino wool, will feature soft camisoles, vests, T-shirts and briefs, as well as loungewear pieces such as oversized shawls, long line wrap cardigans, button down vests and tie waist pants, all in a colour palette of white, damson and cherry with prices starting from £45.
What's more, John Smedley is making this month a double celebration after scooping two prizes at the UK Fashion Exports Awards, which celebrate excellence in selling overseas. The knitwear brand won the Gold Award and the Heritage Brand Award.
