American designer Marc Jacobs, who is also creative director at French luxury label Louis Vuitton, has been honoured by the French government for services to the fashion industry.
The 46-year-old New Yorker will be named as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by France's culture minister Frédéric Mitterrand in a ceremony in Paris today, to coincide with men's fashion week, which kicked off in the French capital yesterday.
Other notable fashion industry awardees include Nathalie Rykiel, the president and creative director of the Sonia Rykiellabel founded by her mother, and Elisabeth Ponsolle des Portes, president of the French luxury brands association Comité Colbert (which counts Chanel, Cartier and Bollinger Champagne as members) who will be made an Officier des Arts et des Lettres.
Congratulations to you all!
