Autumn Winter 2008-09,fashion week, marc by marc jacobs
Marc by Marc Jacobs
The New York Autumn / Winter 2008 shows are in full swing, and, as usual the celebrity/media circus has come to town. The biggest talking point so far has been the Halston show, which took place on Monday evening. The newly-revived brand is the brainchild of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein (wife of Marchesa co-designer Georgina Chapman), Tamara Mellon and Rachel Zoe, and is designed by Marco Zanini, who previously worked at Versace. In the end, the understated collection received mixed reviews; but one thing\'s for sure, everyone will be waiting to see whether or not the relaunch is a success. Watch this space. Elsewhere, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen\'s show was widely praised - even though hardly anyone saw it. That\'s right, the billionaire twins banned all photography and formal reviews. Was it anything to do with Mary-Kate\'s alleged involvement with the late Heath Ledger? Two fashion houses that definitely aren\'t dodging the spotlight are Gucci and Prada: the former opened its much-hyped flagship store on Fifth Avenue, and the latter premiered its short movie, Trembled Blossoms, left, (available to view online at prada.com). The short showed to a packed-out audience which included Milla Jovovich, Joss Stone and Pharell Williams. -Danielle Radojcin

Autumn Winter 2008-09,fashion week,Agyness Deyn
Agyness Deyn
London Fashion Week begins Sunday 10 February. What do we have to look forward to? The big news is that Vivienne Westwood, who normally shows in Paris, will be showing her first show in London for a decade. Similarly, Luella, who showed here last season to celebrate the opening of her new boutique, has come back for seconds. Jonathan Saunders may have decamped to New York, but he left behind a highly talented clutch of designers from whom great things are expected, Marios Schwab, Christopher Kane and Danielle Scutt to name but a few. LFW is all about the new, untapped designer - this season look out for Krystof Strozyna, a young Pole who made a big impression with his MA degree show, and whose show is sponsored by Topshop. Balenciaga is opening a new boutique on Mount Street, and jewellery designer Lara Bohnic is opening a second store (her first is in Hoxton Square) on Sloane Street. In between, expect to see the fashion crowd hanging out at Café Anglais in Bayswater - the hottest new restaurant in town, and, frankly, a welcome relief from the fashion madness.

There\'s no denying online shopping is a stress-free alternative to braving the shops, but there are certain things you just need to try before you buy; jeans is one of them, sunglasses another. Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum\'s advertising campaign for Jordache (shot by Rush Hour director Brett Ratner at the Chateau Marmont) has clearly been a huge success. After spending last year as the face of the brand, the model mum and denim emporium have come together once more to produce a new capsule collection called Heidi Klum by Jordache. According to reports, Klum, who has designed for Birkenstock in the past, looked no further than her own wardrobe for inspiration, envisioning a collection that busy mum\'s like herself could wear. Including premium denim, luxury knit tops and sundresses, the Naughty and Nice range will launch in the US in April, with talk of future distributions to Europe to follow. -Danielle Radojcin
