Olsen twins to publish book

Ashley Olsen,Mary-Kate Olsen, karl lagerfeld Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen with Karl Lagerfeld

Is there no stopping the Olsen twins? Not content with sitting on their multi-billion dollar empire, 22-year old Ashley and Mary-Kate have announced the publication of a coffee table book, titled Influence, featuring picture retrospectives (including never-seen-before shots of the pair) and celebrity interviews. Out on 28 October, two versions of the oversized tome will be available: one with Mary-Kate on the front and Ashley on the back, and vice versa for the other. Those interviewed include fashion heavyweights Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin and John Galliano, among others. "We interviewed the people who have inspired us, with the hope that they will inspire and teach others," Mary-Kate was reported as saying. "We want to explain culturally how ideas evolve."

Liberty\'s new shoe boutique opens

liberty,shoe,boutique Nicholas Kirkwood

Imagine all of your favourite, most opulent shoes housed in the same space; now imagine that space housed within one of the UK\'s most fashionably distinctive stores, and, voilà, you have Liberty\'s new Shoe Boutique. Decorated with trademark dark wood panelling, and decked out with mirrors and antique velvets, the rooms are saved from fustiness by the neon lights which lend the rooms a contemporary mood. Brands include Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and relative newcomer Nicholas Kirkwood,  whose signature wing-like detailing and graphic cut-outs are earning him a distinctive look all his own.

A new job for Phoebe Philo?

Stella McCartney,chloe,celine,Phoebe Philo Phoebe Philo

Could Phoebe Philo finally have landed herself a new job? The retired British designer is rumoured to be in line to take up the reins at French fashion house Celine. Philo, who joined Chloé in 1997 as design assistant to pal Stella McCartney, is credited with revitalising what was then an ailing fashion brand and making it into the emblem of cool it subsequently became, after heading things up on her own when McCartney left in 2001 to launch her own label. She resigned in 2006 after falling pregnant, and now lives in London with her husband, artist Max Wigram. Owned by LVMH, Celine was founded in 1945 by Celine Vipiana, and has, like  Chloé back in the day, struggled to gain an identity for itself since its heyday as a French luxury leather goods house.

Alexander Wang branches out

Nicole Richie, alexander wang Alexander Wang and Nicole Richie

Alexander Wang, the New York-based designer famous for cutting the perfect blazer, has said in an interview with Women\'s Wear Daily that he is expanding his label this season. The designer, whose under-the-radar cool has won him fans in Keira Knightley and Alice Dellal, has created a diffusion line, as well as a collection of shoes. The former, while not lower in price than his main line, is called T by Alexander Wang, and will feature 12 styles of t-shirts and vests, draped and distressed in style (think the Olsen twins). The shoes, meanwhile, which come in five styles, are tough and sexy in style, with super-high, stacked platform heels. According to the report, the shoes are in contrast to his upcoming spring collection, which will mark a departure from his previous moody rock and roll-inspired aesthetic, focusing more on colour and sporty separates, as inspired by recent visits to Miami.

Jonathan Kelsey arrives at Mulberry

Mulberry, jonathan kelsey Jonathan Kelsey for Mulberry shoe

At Mulberry, British shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey\'s much-anticipated collection has just dropped in-store and online. Of note are the former club kid\'s signature aggressively sexy shapes with solid pointy toes (as worn by Amy Winehouse to a dinner thrown by the Olsen twins at Harvey Nichols last year) and multi-straps in unexpected colours like gunmetal and suede fuschia; the men\'s shoe with lace-ups, meanwhile, has already been touted as a chic alternative to the ubiquitous ballet pump.
