Kate Moss dress sells out in record time

Kate Moss,Kate Moss for Topshop,Fashion news Kate Moss

Here are some fun facts currently amazing the handbag.com fashion desk: one, the new Kate Moss Topshop collection has been her biggest hit to date, with fans queuing outside for hours before the Oxford Street shop opened to be among the first to get their hands on the goods (we know - our office is directly across the street). The so-called panther dress (pictured), which Kate wore on a wild night out in Covent Garden recently, sold out in 15 minutes in-store, taking two hours to go online (designers, take note: the dress costs a very wallet-friendly £100). Next, it has been reported that Dolce & Gabbana will pay a record amount of rent for their new store on Bond Street, to the tune of £820 per square foot annually for the first 30 feet of the store, as well as 1.4 million premium to replace glasswear designers Lalique. Phew. We know there\'s a recession on, but that\'s just ridiculous.

McQueen for Target

Alexander McQueen,Fashion news Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2009

Some guys get all the luck. Not only does America have an amazing new President, but they\'ve also got one of the most prestigious designers in the world designing a line for them at affordable prices. Target, the American department store chain, has commissioned Alexander McQueen as part of a new ongoing project that will bring a series of established designers to the masses at low prices. Each designer will choose a muse around which to base their collection. McQueen, whose line will be called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, has picked Leila Moss, lead singer of British electro DJs The Duke Spirit. The collection will come in a palette of black, white and grey, and will feature jumpers, skinny jeans and coats, as well as swimwear and print scarves. Target has a history of working with high-end designers, such as Isaac Mizrahi and Proenza Schouler. Jonathan Saunders, the British designer who recently relocated to New York, designed a colourful collection currently on sale. Now, why can\'t H&M or Primark get someone like the mighty McQueen on board?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley promotes green living

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley,Fashion news Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

As a professional model, Brit model-of-the-moment Rosie Huntington-Whiteley must be used to finding herself in unusual situations. We\'re willing to bet, however, that walking down a street with a green poodle was not one of them (oh OK, it was photoshopped in after, but you get the idea). Rosie, who can currently be seen in the Burberry ads with actor Sam Riley, and dates Ronnie Wood\'s son Tyrone, took part in the shoot to promote the first anniversary of Green Thing, a non-profit public service that encourages people to lead a greener life by taking small steps to make big environmental changes - walking, of course, being one of them. The recently relaunched website features a so-called Green Thing Creature designed by Andrew Rae (of cartoon Monkey Dust fame) and animated by Tom Baker. Rosie said that although she tries to lead a green life, she finds the amount of information available "overwhelming" and that "Green Thing offers really simple actions, delivered in a really fun way... I am certainly going to start integrating these into my daily life." To get involved visit www.dothegreenthing.com
