Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman, currently co-starring with Scarlett Johansson in The Other Boleyn Girl, is well known for promoting a good cause. Most recently she\'s climbed on the ethical footwear bandwagon, designing a line of vegan shoes for hot-to-trot New York shoe boutique, Te Casan. All proceeds of the debut collection, which includes Mary Janes, classic heels and ballet pumps - all made in animal-free materials - will be donated to the Nature Conservancy, a non-profit organisation that works to protect ecologically fragile parts of the planet. Unsurprisingly, the shoes are already proving to be a hit; indeed, the so-called Pippa shoe, a faux-patent red Mary Jane that the A-lister herself wore to the opening party, left, already has a waiting list. -Danielle Radojcin

London Fashion Weekend
Now that the fashion pack have moved on to Milan, it\'s time for the fun to begin at the London fashion tents. Starting today, and finishing on Sunday 24 February, London Fashion Weekend is a chance for members of the - fashionable - public to get in on the action. Designers selling their wares include PPQ, Nicky Dupont and Alex Monroe, with everything from clothes, to jewellery to accessories on display. It\'s not all about buying stuff, though. Marks & Spencer have teamed up with Oxfam to form The Fashion Amnesty, part of their clothes exchange, encouraging visitors to donate any unwanted clothing. (Anyone donating an M&S-labelled item will receive a £5 voucher to use with their next purchase on £35 or more at M&S stores.) Should it all get too exhausting, guests can relax at The Chambord Bar and sip their limited edition Chambord Fashion Weekend cocktail. Londonfashionweek.co.uk -Danielle Radojcin

Actors get so much attention for their red carpet clothing choices, it\'s easy to forget about the stuff they wear while doing the job that gets them there in the first place. The Costume Designers Guild, active since 1953, serves to remind us of the creatives responsible for so many of the eye-catching costumes we see on screen, and this week they celebrated their 10th Annual awards ceremony at the Beverly Wiltshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Anjelica Houston, pictured, who wore a seductive blood-red satin gown, the even was pure Hollywood, with Katie Holmes, Geena Davis and Simon Cowell\'s other half, Terri Seymour, in attendance. -Danielle Radojcin
