Word\'s biggest sample sale

Kate Moss,Dolce & Gabbana,phillip lim,anna wintour Kate Moss for 7th On Sale

For anyone who\'s sustained an injury in a sample sale scrum, news of 7th On Sale will be music to the ears. A benefit for HIV/AIDS, the online auction will take place on ebay between 15 November and 6 December. Bids start at only 10% of the retail price, and hundreds of designers have donated items, including Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. With Kate Moss, Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg among the co-chairs, it promises to be something of a fashion spectacular, with an event taking place in New York to coincide with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers Awards) alongside. Even Topshop is taking part, with Sir Philip Green saying in a statement that, "With Topshop\'s increased presence in the US fashion arena, it made sense for us to get fully involved in this fund-raising campaign, and I do hope we can make a real difference to people whose lives have been affected by HIV and AIDS." Anya Hindmarch update

anya,hindmarch Anya Hindmarch

Although the publicity she received from her environmentally-conscious I\'m Not A Plastic Bag tote was more than most designers could hope to achieve in a lifetime, designer Anya Hindmarch, left, has certainly not been resting on her laurels. As well as a new boutique on Bond Street, this month has seen the relaunch of her new and vastly improved e-commerce website. (Her original Pont Street store will close after the January sales.) New key features include 360° photography displays, and a VIP area offering exclusive access to insider information and the opportunity to pre-order at the beginning of each season. Same-day delivery is also available. But that\'s not all. The British mother of five has also been nominated for Accessory Designer Of The Year and Designer Of The Year at the upcoming British Fashion Awards. Seeing as it\'s the first time a handbag designer has been nominated in the latter category, all the hard work is clearly paying off.

New designer at Guy Laroche

Hilary Swank,herve leger,guy laroche,alber elbaz Hilary Swank

Guy Laroche is one of those established fashion names which sits comfortably alongside Lanvin, Christian Dior, and the like. Problem is, like Yves Saint Laurent before Stefano Pilati took the helm, it\'s one of those labels which has never seemed find a suitable designer, ever since M Laroche himself passed away in 1989. Hervé L Leroux (formerly Hervé Leger) was in-house designer for two years before stepping down a year ago. Between 1996 to 1998 it was Alber Elbaz at the helm. He managed to get the house attention when he dressed Hilary Swank for the Oscars in 2005, left, before moving on to YSL (he now designs for Lanvin). The situation should be resolved with the recent appointment of Marcel Marongiu as the new consulting artistic director. The Swedish designer, who closed his own Paris house over a year ago following a dispute with his Japanese shareholder, will show his first ready-to-wear collection for the house in January during the Paris couture shows.

Lacroix\'s fashion exhibition

With the Eurostar\'s new route to Paris from King\'s Cross St Pancras taking just over two hours, it\'s time to get a little fashion therapy from a newly opened exhibition at the city\'s Museum of Fashion and Textiles. Christian Lacroix, Histories Of Fashion is a collection of 500 pieces, handpicked by the designer, from the museum\'s archive, including dresses from fashion greats such as Jeanne Lanvin, Christian Dior and Elsa Schiaparelli, among others. Exploring the theme of great fashion as timeless fashion, Lacroix - who this year is celebrating 20 years as a designer - has arranged the clothes by theme, rather than chronology, including 80 pieces of his own design. "I wanted to show all the periods mixed and matched," the designer told Women\'s Wear Daily. "This sweater is the most ancient thing they have, from 1610, and yet it looks like Missoni. It seems to be of the moment." The exhibition runs until 20 April 2008.

Celebrities unite against bullying

Beth Ditto, sophie ellis bextor Sophie Ellis Bexter

To draw attention to Anti Bullying Week starting 19 November, high street chain mkone has joined forces with BeatBullying and come up with a cute diamante-studded vest. Exclusively available at mkone, all proceeds from the limited edition top, which costs £3, will go directly to the charity. Celebrities such as Beth Ditto, Sophie Ellis Bextor and pop star Robyn have all been snapped wearing the vest, which comes in a wide selection of colours ranging from fluoro yellow, black, white or tangerine. At 12pm on the 20 November, Beatbullying is asking as many people as possible to join hands in defiance against bullying. The Circle Of Friends will take place in all mkone stores and in schools and colleges nationwide, aiming to enter the Guinness Book Of Records as the largest link of hands ever. Go to www.mkone.co.uk for details.
