Comme des Garcons for H&M
The latest H&M designer collaboration arrived in store this morning and amid the usual hype, the queue at London\'s Regent Street branch started forming at midnight. Rei Kawakubo, of fabled Japanese label Comme des Garcons (known simply as "Comme" in the fashion world), is the latest name to join a list which includes Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, and, er, Madonna. The collection, which boasts men\'s and women\'s ranges complete with accessories and a unisex fragrance, debuted at H&M\'s new Tokyo store last week and it\'s much anticipated arrival in the UK did not disappoint.
First in line was a Japanese student who had braved the cold, (and the dangerous London streets) all night just to get his hands on a pair of trainers. Another man who had obviously done his homework, went straight for the rail of £200 limited edition coat dresses and bought all 5 in the Regent Street store. By the time he had finished paying other customers were offering him £400 for them. Other shoppers grabbed armfuls of the £34.99 polka-dot scarf and headed straight for the tills, no doubt eager to get home and put them on eBay.
Kawakubo, known for her intellectual approach to her work, has worked with stretch wool, gabardine and cotton poplin in a controlled palette of black, white, midnight blue, red and rose. "I thought it would be an exciting event to work with H&M in order to sell Comme des Garcons clothes in places where they have never been sold and to appeal to people who may not yet understand [the brand]," she said. If you want to buy into her aesthetic though you\'ll have to get your skates on the rails are clearing as I type...

Agyness Deyn
Louis Vuitton sponsored a glitzy bash honouring Australian film director Baz Luhrmann this week, at the Museum Of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York. The film maker, whose credits include Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, posed with fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman, who stars in the film alongside Nicole Kidman (who was unable to attend due to a prior engagement at the Glamour Awards which she attended with husband Keith Urban). Anna Wintour, Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump were among the guests, alongside a host of stars including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel (both in Louis Vuitton), and Joy Bryant. Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, provided some youthful cool, gossipping with model du jour Chanel Iman, and an ever camera-shy Agyness Deyn smooched with boyfriend Albert Hammond in front of the cameras. Australia is released 26 December 2008

Rihanna for Gucci
Forget Amy Winehouse, this month\'s tattoo inspiration is all about Rihanna. The super successful pop star has posed for an advertising campaign for Gucci, promoting a handbag and shoe collection - part of the Italian luxury goods house\'s latest offering for its ongoing project benefiting UNICEF - featuring a classic tattoo-style design of a heart embellished with the trademark Gucci symbols of a horsebit and a web. Since 2005, Gucci\'s Creative Director Frida Giannini has designed an exclusive annual collection to support the charity. "I love the idea of a heart being tattooed onto the handbags," she said in a statement, adding, "It\'s a permanent mark that you can wear with pride and that stays with you. I think that represents very well what we are doing here."
The White Heart Tattoo Collection benefitting UNICEF is on sale now at Gucci stores and at gucci.com from 19 November 2008 until 31 January 2009, with 25% of sales going to the charity.
