Agyness Deyn lands a new contract

With its salmon pink corset-shape bottle, Jean Paul Gaultier\'s perfume, Classique, launched 15 years ago, has become one of the most iconic fragrances on the shelves today. Come September, a new, and altogether different perfume, called Ma Dame, will be launched by the couturier. "The name Ma Dame is like a little French joke", the designer explained to Women\'s Wear Daily. "A ‘madame\' can be a woman of a bordello, and a ‘madame\' can also mean someone bourgeois. Even in terms of dressing, ‘to dress like a madame\' in French is boring, super politically correct. But ‘ma\' ‘dame\' in two words means ‘my dame\'. It means she\'s not like the woman in the bordello or bourgeois." Certainly, the look of the new scent reflects this philosophy. Agyness Deyn has been chosen to feature in the ad campaign, shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, with the font reminiscent of punk and the Sex Pistols, with the bottle itself a florescent pink and orange degradé shade. A miniature bust, reminiscent of Classique, adorns the side. Slated to launch 1 September, the perfume will be sold exclusively in the UK at Harrods before a nationwide launch.

Jerry Hall bids adieu to her wedding dress

The day you auction off your wedding dress would, you\'d think, be an emotional one for most women, but for Jerry Hall, erstwhile wife of Mick Jagger and the mother of three of his children, it was a matter of charity over nostalgia. "It\'s really odd to think that some other woman might wear it at her wedding," she said of the knee-length, off the shoulder white lace gown, designed by Antony Price that she wore to her wedding in 1990, adding, "I just hope whoever she is has more luck than I did." Hall divorced Jagger in 1999, allegedly after Carla Bruni had an affair with the ageing rocker. The dress finally sold for £2,420 at an auction at Sotheby\'s on Tuesday, with the grand total of wardrobe items sold raising an impressive £28,000 for homeless charity Emmaus.

Halston arrives at Selfridges

Selfridges,halston Halston, Autumn/Winter 2008/9

Halston, the 1970s American clothing line revived last season, has arrived at Selfridges. The collection, designed by former Versace employee Marco Zanini, with backing from movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon, was a critical and commercial success when it was launched on the runway last February. The clothes, which went on sale hours after the catwalk show on Net-A-Porter in a special arrangement with the online boutique, sold out in record time. Now Halston has partnered with Selfridges to create an exclusive boutique to house the autumn/winter 2008/9 clothing and accessories lines. The boutique, located in the London store in the Superbrands section, sits alongside the likes of Alexander McQueen, Marni and Gucci.

Leggy Lindsay

Actress and fashion plate Lindsay Lohan last week joined the ranks of Chloe Sevigny, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani, by launching her first fashion line. 6126, named after Marilyn Monroe\'s birth date, and comprising leggings, leg warmers, footless tights and, bizarrely, a foot accessory, called the ‘ankle glove\' was launched in Los Angeles with business partners Kristi Kaylor (who is also involved with Mandy Moore\'s clothing brand, Mblem), Sarah Haynes Heath (a founding member of the make-up brand Hard Candy) and friend Jenni Muro. UK outlets for the label have yet to be confirmed (they will be sold at Hillary Rush and Fred Segal in LA), although online retailer revolveclothing.com will give British shoppers the chance to buy via the web.

Thierry Mugler\'s back

Incontrovertible proof that the \'80s are back has arrived. The house of Thierry Mugler, the French designer responsible for putting models like Jerry Hall in razor-sharp, shoulder-padded jackets, and dressing models in his famous motorcycle dress (featuring bustier tops resembling car bonnets complete with rearview mirrors) for the video for George Michael\'s 1992 track, Too Funky (which he also directed), has announced a revival of its womenswear line. The designer closed his clothing atelier in 2003, and all Thierry Mugler clothing is now made under licensing deals. These days more famous for his perfume Angel and its accompanying beauty products, the Thierry Mugler studio will present a show of 21 looks, each a re-interpretation of previous creations, during Paris Fashion Week next September.

Last Sunday\'s Art Car Boot Fair at the Old Truman Brewery was, as has now become customary, a brilliant chance to buy reasonably-priced artworks by established artists. One of them, Abigail Lane, has been invited to create an exclusive art installation in the new Matches boutique on London\'s Marylebone High Street, which was unveiled this week. Both floors of the store have been transformed into a circus-themed space, with star-spangled wallpaper, pictures of performing elephants, while shoppers have been given the chance to purchase works in the exhibition which include decorative tables and screens, as well as limited edition prints, crockery, t-shirts and cufflinks.
