With a celebrity led telethon at the weekend, a charity music single on the way and A-list actors donating huge sums of money, the Haiti earthquake appeal continues apace with UK stars from the world of fashion announcing their plans to help.
The prime minister's wife Sarah Brown joined forces with supermodel Naomi Campbell yesterday to launch a fashion-related initiative to raise money for the earthquake victims. The campaign will include a catwalk show on 18 February (during London Fashion Week) which will see high profile models and celebrities join Campbell on the runway in designs by Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana, to name a few. Models Erin O'Connor and Yasmin Le Bon also attended yesterday's Fashion For Relief launch at Somerset House to show their support for the initiative.
Brown said, "The British public have been amazingly generous in its response to the tragedy in Haiti. Your donations are already making a massive difference and we can still do more."
For Brown and Campbell, this is the latest in a series of charity ventures that they have promoted together. Last summer the pair were spotted at the Glastonbury festival to promote the White Ribbon Alliance, a charity which aims to improve the conditions for mother's giving birth in developing countries. Campbell is an ambassador of the charity, while Brown is a patron.
