As a musical legend famous for his eccentric sense of style, fans would love the chance to have a rummage through Elton John's flamboyant wardrobe. And from tomorrow you can, all in the name of charity.
The singing star and his partner David Furnish are throwing open the doors to their wardrobes once more to open their fifth Out The Closet pop-up shop.
The charity sale, which takes place from tomorrow at the Flower Cellars in London's Covent Garden, will see the largest collection of clothing and accessories belonging to the couple go up for grabs. The range, which is priced from £10 to £2,000, includes pieces by Versace, Christian Dior, Prada, Alexander McQueen, D&G and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as sunglasses, luggage and belts.
Elton John said, "We always get a fantastic response from the public with these sales, I think the idea that the items we all buy and enjoy can help someone in dire need, particularly at this time of year, really strikes a chord."
David Furnish added, "The new stock in Out The Closet represents the largest clearout that we have ever had, and it's exciting to think that our clothes will draw a whole new demographic into our shop. For the first time we have sunglasses in-store and other accessories that will make great Christmas gifts."
All the proceeds from the sale will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation.
The shop opens from Saturday 12 December 2009 at 10am at the Flower Cellars, 4-6 Russell Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 5HZ. The store will be restocked daily until sold out with a clearance sale taking place on Saturday 19 December 2009 at the same venue.
