Corrie Nielsen scoops Fashion Fringe prize

by Fiona Raisbeck

American student Corrie Nielsen has won this year’s Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden award. The Florida native’s tailored collection beat off stiff competition from Alice Palmer and Jade Kang to scoop the coveted prize at the Fashion Fringe show at Covent Garden’s Flower Cellars during London Fashion Week last night.

This year’s Honorary Chair of Fashion Fringe, John Galliano, presented Nielsen with her award after all three contenders showed their collections. Not only is she crowned this year’s Fashion Fringe winner, but she also scoops £100,000 in prize money, as well as a show slot at London Fashion Week in February and September next year.

Nielsen said of her win: “I’m overwhelmed. I have the utmost respect for John and his work, I’m so honoured to have been chosen. This has been the most incredible experience and I’m already looking forward to the next collection.”

The 40-year-old now joins the likes of past winners Erdem, Basso & Brooke and last year's victors Jena.Theo, who all received support from the Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden development fund to help nurture their fashion business.

Congratulations!
