Having showcased much of the yet-to-launch Halston Heritage collection on the set of Sex And The City: The Movie 2, the label has now confirmed whispers that Sarah Jessica Parker will take on a gig at the label itself - as a designer.
Rumours spread across the web like wildfire after e-online.com wrote of SJP yesterday: "We hear that the Sex And The City fashion icon may end up with a much bigger role at the revived design house. A source tells us that Parker may actually land some sort of consulting gig with Halston. Titles being bantered about include creative director and design director."
Such a deal is now confirmed to have taken place and is believed to include some kind of equity stake for the actress, although no further details have been released.
It was reported last year that SJP was in talks to be the face of the brand, but you can hardly blame the bigwigs at Halston - the mainline of which was relaunched for the autumn/winter 2008 season, having pretty much lain dormant since its '70s heyday - for wanting to maximise its relationship with one of the world's most stylish women. Little sister line Halston Heritage launches this month, and SJP's endorsement could be make-or-break in its success.
It probably helps, too, that the actress is no stranger to fashion design. Her own label, Bitten, launched to much fanfare in the US in 2007 and her fragrance range has proved massively popular.
