Kate Moss giggling front row between Jamie Hince and Mario Testino; Lily Allen joshing with the paparazzi in a candyfloss pink mini-dress; Beth Ditto, Claudia Schiffer, Freida Pinto and a host of other glamorous faces: the Chanel autumn/winter 2009 ready-to-wear show is indubitably the highlight of Paris Fashion Week. Hosted at the Grand Palais, creative director Karl Lagerfeld sent out the world's top supermodels - Natasha Poly, Lara Stone and Lily Donaldson - as well as older girls like Karen Elson, Angela Lindvall and Liya Kebede, in a showcase of Chanel classics offset with a riot of girly accessories. Tweed suits came in the label's trademark palette of black and white (with an occasional injection of jade green), while a bubblegum pink quilted chain-strap handbag added a lighter touch. See-through plastic totes revealed perfectly shaped compartments, reminiscent of a Barbie doll's accoutrement, for compact, lipstick and glasses - all by Chanel, of course. Jefferson Hack's girlfriend, model Anouk Lepere, who last night DJed at the Stella McCartney party, strode out in a powder pink knitted hat which looked like your granny's tea-cosy - the matching cardigan, however, will no doubt be all the range come autumn.
