The dearth of big-name labels during London Fashion Week has always been bemoaned by the fashion crowd, so it is with great excitement that Burberry has today announced it will be closing next September's collections here with its spring/summer 2010 Burberry Prorsum womenswear show. "London is our home... We are incredibly proud of our Britishness and this is really a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that in our home city," creative director Christopher Bailey said in a statement. The collection is normally shown as part of Milan Fashion Week.
Burberry follows in the footsteps of Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Matthew Williamson, both of whom have shown one-off collections in the British capital.
The spring/summer 2010 collections will mark the 25th anniversaries of both London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Council.
The show will by followed by a party at Burberry's new global headquarters in Westminster.
