With millions of cinemagoers flocking to watch James Cameron's science fiction blockbuster, Avatar, in 3D glasses and a recent football match between premiership heavyweights Manchester United and Arsenal the first sporting event ever to been screened in pubs in 3D, it seems the world has gone a little mad for the fantasy format lately. And now the fashion world is getting in on the act, with news that Burberry will live stream its London autumn/winter 2010 show in 3D in four major cities.
After last week's news that the London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2010 show schedule is to be streamed live online, Burberry seem to be taking it up a notch with their plans to use 3D technology. VIP guests in Burberry screening spaces (designed by the brand's Christopher Bailey) in New York, Paris, Dubai and Tokyo will be sporting their 3D glasses on 23 February to watch all the action on the Burberry catwalk unfold. An additional screening will also take place in Los Angeles later in the day to take the time difference into account. Viewers will also be able to watch pre-show behind-the-scenes footage, plus clips of Burberry's glitzy front row guests on the red carpet outside the show venue before the main spectacle.
Christopher Bailey said of his unique new venture, "We are very excited to announce that we are hosting the first ever truly global fashion show. This unprecedented event will enable people to experience the energy and atmosphere of this event from around the world."
For Burberry fans not lucky enough to bag an invite, don't worry, you will still be able to watch the show in all its glory live on the Burberry website.
