Love cashmere? Now you can extend your obsession from the bedroom to the bathroom thanks to the newest launch from specialist cashmere label Brora: cashmere toilet roll.
Titter ye not. Inspired by a leading brand's launch of loo roll with cashmere extracts in Februay, Brora founder Victoria Stapleton was moved to up the ante. "I heard about these super soft toilet rolls and decided to launch our own as we are experts for all things cashmere," she explains. "However, whereas our competitor uses a tiny amount of cashmere we offer a super luxurious version made of 99% cashmere and only 1% tissue."
In keeping with the label's fashion heritage, the range will be available in seasonal colours - for launch, that's sky blue, peony and mimosa.
While no doubt a little blindsided by the move, Stapleton insists that her team of cashmere craftsmen, who are based in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick, rose to the challenge happily.
"The key issue was replacing the normal configuration of needles to a smaller bed stitch pattern," she adds. "However, we can use the same fine gauge machines we utilize for our cashmere scarf and throatwarmer designs to achieve the perfect light weight fabric."
Look out for the new toilet tissue will hitting stores later this month - and, if you do give it a try, be sure to let Brora know whether you think the bold move has paid off. States a defiant Stapleton: "We are looking forward to customer feedback."
