The British Fashion Awards may be three months away, but we're already counting down the days to this year's glitzy ceremony. With that in mind, the British Fashion Council has whetted our appetite by revealing this year's award nominees.
The Designer of the Year award will see Christopher Kane, Erdem and Phoebe Philo of Celine fight it out for the night's most prestigious prize. Burberry, last year's winner of the Designer Brand award, faces stiff competition from Mulberry, Pringle of Scotland and Victoria Beckham to defend its title for 2010. For accessories, shoe designers Camilla Skovgaard and Nicholas Kirkwood are up against Emma Hill of Mulberry for the Accessory Designer award.
In the rising fashion talent categories, Meadham Kirchhoff, Mary Katrantzou and Michael van der Ham are up for the award of Emerging Talent for ready-to-wear collections, while Charlotte Olympia, Husam El Odeh and Jessica McCormack will contest the same prize but for accessories.
Other British Fashion Award nominees include David Gandy, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Lara Stone (who are up for the Model award), Burberry's Christopher Bailey, E. Tautz, Margaret Howell and Paul Smith (for Menswear Designer), and Nick Knight, Nicola Formichetti and Rankin (for the Isabella Blow award for Fashion Creator).
What's more, much like last year's London 25 prize which was scooped by Kate Moss, this year's ceremony includes a accolade voted for by you. The British Style prize recognises an individual who most embodies the spirit of British fashion and acts as an international ambassador for the UK's fashion industry. Log on to the British Fashion Awards website later this year to place your votes.
The winners will be announced at the British Fashion Awards 2010 ceremony on 7 December.
