Anya Hindmarch store raided
The smash-and-grab thieves strike again at the Pont Street shop.
Smash-and-grab scooter thieves have raided one of Anya Hindmarch's London stores once again.
The robbers broke into the accessory designer's shop on London's Pont Street around midnight on Monday 4 May and took off with around £45,000 worth of stock from the spring/summer 2009 collection.
This is the sixth time the handbag designer - famous for her £5 I'm Not A Plastic Bag handbag but with main line collection designs priced up to £1,395 - has been targeted by burglars, with previous robberies taking place at the Ledbury Road, Sloane Street and Bond Street shops.
Anya Hindmarch said of the incident: "I am devastated that we have been broken into once again. Whilst I suppose it is flattering to think that there is a demand for our product, to be targeted so many times and have had such a great volume of stock taken is a real blow and disrupts our business."
This latest break-in follows a wave of smash-and-grab robberies at luxury designer clothes stores over the last few years. The gang, which ride scooters and shatter the shop windows with sledgehammers before taking off with the stolen goods, have also targeted Mulberry, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Gucci and Cartier in the past.
