You should know about... Mama-la-mode
Mama la mode launches its own capsule collection, and sells Bodas maternity lingerie exclusively online.
As Nicole Richie proves, being pregnant can be a time to embrace fashion, rather than hide from it. To help us out, Mama-la-mode, the Net-a-porter of maternity wear, has this week launched its own line of clothing, as well as stocking Bodas' new maternity underwear collection.
The Mama-la-mode range comprises the kind of chic basics anyone who's been pregnant will have spent ages looking for but not necessarily found: a black "twist top" with a plunging neckline and flattering bracelet-length sleeves which reaches below the derrière, a spaghetti strap camisole (again, importantly long in length) and those all-important leggings, which come with a slight v-shape waistline designed to sit comfortably under your bump.
Asked why the time was right to launch a capsule collection, Fee Drummond, founder and managing director of Mama-la-mode said, "It became obvious there was a need and desire for soft, good quality basics and essentials at reasonable prices. I just couldn't find anything that filled this gap."
The Bodas capsule range, which Mama-la-mode is selling exclusively online, includes a maternity bra using the brand's signature seam-free detailing, in nude or black, and matching briefs. "The maternity and nursing bra are fantastic because they are low cut enough to wear with revealing tops, without a hint of frumpy maternity bra peeking out," says Drummond, adding, "It's so important that your maternity lingerie doesn't make you wince every time you get dressed."
Mama-la-mode, which launched just over a year ago, has become the go-to pregnancy clothing and accessories website for fashionable women, with celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Gwen Stefani placing orders. For the rest of us, it's comforting to know there's a website out there catering to helping us look at least half as glamorous as the ever-chic Ms Richie.
