You should know about... London Fashion Week spring/summer 2010

We bring you the lowdown on London Fashion Week spring/summer 2010, including what to expect from designers, parties, shows and celebrities.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label autumn/winter 2009/10London Fashion Week is approaching fast, and the occasion, which starts on 18 September and will see designers showing their spring/summer fashions for 2010, is one to watch, for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it's the 25th anniversary of the event, which means celebrations galore. Second, it has a new venue, in the form of 180 The Strand, just moments away from Somerset House, the grand neo-classical edifice that sits on The Thames. The former will showcase On/Off shows (names which aren't on the official schedule), while the latter will play host to the British Fashion Council (BFC) catwalk schedule.

This being a notable anniversary, there are lots of suitably big-name fashion designers taking part, including Burberry, Pringle, Jeremy Scott and Sass & Bide. Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders and Antonio Berardi are also returning to the city to stage fashion shows here. British household names Clements Ribeiro, meanwhile, will show a still-life presentation of their newly-revived eponymous label.

London is forever being credited as a hotbed of up-and-coming design talent, and this month's names to watch include Hannah Marshall (who is showing for the first time, and who will have fashion model Erin O'Connor open her show), Felder Felder (who return after a one-season hiatus), Mark Fast, Mary Katrantzou and Meadham Kirchoff.

Speaking of fashion models, don't expect to see too much of British model Jourdan Dunn - she recently announced she's expecting a baby at Christmas. Hopefully fellow British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will take up the slack and Agyness Deyn will make her customary appearance for pal Henry Holland's House Of Holland runway show.

London Fashion Week would be nothing without the presence of a few bigwigs, and the presence of Anna Wintour - just about the most important name in the industry - Mayor Boris Johnson (who will open proceedings) and Sir Philip Green (who is throwing a party) will certainly add kudos.

Other celebrities at London Fashion Week may include Kate Moss, whose fashion line for Topshop is always devoured by the international press. Expect to see her attend a few runway fashion shows with pal Lily Allen, who was last seen front row at Chanel. Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts, Peaches Geldof and Daisy Lowe are all also partial to a bit of LFW action.

Other things to look out for include Kinder Aggugini's pop-up shop on Mount Street, the unveiling of Christopher Kane's anticipated collection for Topshop, and parties hosted by Mulberry and The Shop At Bluebird.

All in all, it's shaping up to be a rather fine silver anniversary for London Fashion Week.
