Lindsay Lohan hired by Ungaro
Lindsay Lohan has been hired as artistic advisor at fashion house Emanuel Ungaro.
Celebrities really do rule the fashion world, it seems, as rumours were confirmed yesterday that Lindsay Lohan has been named "artistic advisor" at Emanuel Ungaro.
The 23-year-old actress, who also designs her own leggings line called 6126, has been asked to give "an electric shock" to the staid French fashion house, which has seen poor critical and financial returns of late.
According to a report in Women's Wear Daily, Lohan joins Estrella Archs, who has been named chief designer. Archs, a virtual unknown, follows in the footsteps of Esteban Cortazar, who had reportedly fallen out with Ungaro over marketing strategy issues.
Lindsay told WWD she wants to take to brand to "a younger place", adding, "To be in a position where I'm working with a fashion house in Paris sets it apart from every other celebrity brand." The pair are planning to show their first collection in Paris on 4 October, with Lohan taking a bow at the end of the show.
Ungaro was founded in 1965 by Emanuel Ungaro, and was one of Paris' most prestigious fashion houses until the designer's retirement in 2004. Since then, a number of designers such as Giambattista Valli have tried their hand at the job, without success.
