Katie Holmes for Miu Miu
Her first ever campaign has the fashion community divided. By Danielle Radojcin
Katie Holmes's Spring/Summer 2009 advertising campaign for Miu Miu (pictured) was revealed today. She follows in a line of trendy girls - Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst and Vanessa Paradis - confirming her status as Fashion-worthy, as opposed to her pre-nuptial image of Girl-Next-Door. Shot by Mert Atlas and Marcus Piggott (are there any major campaigns they aren't doing? Answers by email, please), the pictures show Suri's mom as "a luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality", according to the press release. On the web, meanwhile, the virtual fashion community is divided. A scan of Perez Hilton readers' comments shows some people loving it: "She looks like a model, up there with gemma ward and agyness! Impressive! Who knew she had it in her??" (From frokule), while others, such as MissT, voice a more popular theme: "She looks creepy, like an evil robot." Either way, one thing is certain: Mrs. Cruise is now a fashion force to be reckoned with.
