Supermodel Karen Mulder arrested for threatening her plastic surgeon.

Karen Mulder has been arrested on charges of threatening her plastic surgeon, it has been reported today. The 39-year-old Dutch former supermodel is being held in a Paris cell following alleged "vicious telephone calls" after asking to have a plastic surgery operation reversed.

This is not the first time Mulder, who was one of the biggest models during the '90s alongside Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, has been noticed for her bizarre behaviour.  She was reported to have fallen in to a coma last year after overdosing on sleeping pills, and after her retirement in 2000 she said on live TV that she was raped by Prince Albert of Monaco, as well as other "sex predators", a claim she later revoked. At the time, her father blamed her breakdown on drugs, saying, "She was ruined by cocaine and the knowledge that her life as a model was over. She's broken, emotionally and physically. When I visited her, I saw notebooks full of her mad ideas. She's accused everyone and everything. It's awful."

Despite the renaissance of '90s supermodels of late - Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista, among others, all still have successful careers - Mulder has seemingly been ignored. She was not featured, for example, in American Vogue's May 2009 Met Ball Model As Muse special, even though, in her modelling prime, she featured on several Vogue covers and in editorials, and was one of the most prominent faces during the supermodel heyday.

She is currently not listed with a modelling agency, and will likely be released later today, according to reports.
