It may not be time to deck the halls with boughs of holly just yet, but if you're itching to get into the Christmas spirit, read on. Some of your favourite designers have already flexed their creative muscles for the season, and the results are just as festively fabulous as you'd imagine.
Earlier this week, Lily Cole turned on the lights of the now-renowned Tiffany tree at Somerset House, which featured decorations by leading set designer Shona Heath - who is doubly busy this month, having agreed to curate the Christmas windows for Topshop's Oxford Street flagship, too.
Elsewhere, the Luella team have turned creative consultants for Liberty, designing the iconic store's windows and in-store tableaux, as well as hosting an 'adult grotto' packed with must-have gifts. At Selfridges, Louis Vuitton has opened a pop-up Christmas shop, the highlight of which is an exclusive dog motif T-shirt designed by artistic director, Marc Jacobs.
But the absolutely mustn't-miss collaboration of the season has to go to Claridge's, which has invited John Galliano for Dior to be its first designer Christmas tree decorator in its 112-year history.
"I love to visit Claridge's when I am in London, particularly at this time of year - and I hope to bring a twist to the traditional tree," Galliano says of his creation, which is rendered in silver, white and blue, and includes crystals to give the impression of the tree being frozen. "I want to combine the festive with the innovative, the spirit of Dior with the spirit of Claridge's, and create something spectacular that will inspire the perfect start to the season!"
