orange and pink
As much as we LOVE black, we know that once spring comes we are going to want to pack away our goth gear and get colourful. Well, luckily for us the future\'s bright, the future\'s orange.... and pink. Literally shocking. This colourful combo cropped up everywhere last week, so much so it would be easier to list the shows that didn\'t feature them.

Who knew that Harry Potter\'s erstwhile sidekick was such a budding fashionista? Spotted front row at Fashion Fringe (sitting next to Alexa Chung - bonus kudos) and at London\'s hottest ticket Christopher Kane, Emma Watson clearly has designs on a fashionable future. Great to see that our homegrown talents are supporting one another, even if Miss Watson was too fabulous to pose for our photographer outside the Christopher Kane show...

luella
Our Luella love-in shows no signs of abating after yet another winning show where every detail counted. The show was all about taking things to extremes, and not just the lurid colours. Every spare inch of fabric was packed with frills, trims and pleats and the accessories were piled on to perfection with veiled and bejewelled fascinators in the hair, ladylike gloves, bags, coursages and shoes all leaving us breathless.

ladyhawke
We loved meeting girl of the moment Ladyhawke (aka Pip Brown), backstage at the Topshop Unique show, not least because she turned out to be as fabulous as her new album which incidentally provided the soundtrack to an endless number of shows. Her surefire hit Paris is Burning opened the Topshop Unique show at the beginning of the week and Dusk \'Til Dawn closed Osman Yousefzada on friday. A legend is born.

dresses to die for
London was the city of the statement dress with endless heart breakingly gorgeous concoctions to swoon over. Top of our list were the intricate iridescent dresses by Emma Cook and the crystal rope dresses at Marios Schwab. Coming soon to a red carpet near you.

charles anastase
New boy Charles Anastase arrived from Paris in style on sunday morning and had all London buzzing about his beautiful high-waisted, mini-crinolines and little cardigans layered over washed-out silk pieces in the pale pastels. We love his mix of super-cute girlie meets \'50s rock chick. Having Alexa Chung milling about the shows draped in half his collection all week won\'t hurt his profile, but to be honest this is one designer who doesn\'t need the help - his clothes do the talking for him.

Mulberry,london fashion week,designer,catwalk,Spring Summer 2009,Emma Hill
mulberry
Like all girls, we\'re firm fans of Mulberry. Ever since they shook off their staid image and became the no.1 handbag destination brand they have gone from strength to strength, successfully introducing clothing and shoe lines to their stable. So it was always going to be tense when a new creative director took the helm - would a Mulberry by any other name smell as sweet? Relax, the brand is in safe hands under new girl Emma Hill who cut her teeth designing accessories for Marc Jacobs before moving to Gap and more recently at Halston. The catwalk presentation at Mulberry\'s Bond Street HQ had everything we could wish for next season and top of our shopping list is the bayswater clutch in \'Lipstick\'. Ladies, form an orderly queue...

jourdan dunn
Okay, so she\'s not a \'new face\' (model agency speak for girls who are untouched by Mario and Meisel) by any means. Despite only hitting the big time last season with that Italian Vogue cover, one season is like a lifetime in model years and already Jourdan Dunn has firmly staked her place in the catwalk elite - ie she only does the best shows and always wears the best outfits. In London alone she walked for Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Aquascutum, Giles, Jaeger, Luella, Temperley, Ossie Clark, Issa and Topshop Unique, and no matter how many times we saw her, we never tired of just how drop dead gorgeous she is. Sigh.
Adidas by Stella McCartney, london fashion week, designer, catwalk,Spring Summer 2009
adidas by stella mccCartney
When you spend all week sitting in strict rows shoulder to shoulder with people who largely take themselves a tad too seriously, the shows can start to feel extremely claustrophobic and repetitive. Huge relief came in the form of the Adidas by Stella McCartney show which broke with all tradition and took a plethora of Olympic medal winning talent and a smattering of sporty models and showed us what the clothes were made to do - run, jump and sweat in style. Girls bounced on trampolines and flipped on the beam whilst the fashion press milled around feeling that for once they were seeing something more fabulous than their own reflections!

It seems like a whole generation of young designers have been channeling classic Helmut Lang as the perfect antidote to all the hippie chic and floaty femininity that\'s been the order for the last few seasons. We\'re loving this new breed of master tailor who can cut a masculine silhouette so perfectly for the female form and give substance to a schedule that has often been criticised for being more about ideas than execution. Thank you Todd Lynn, Richard Nicoll, Meadham Kirchoff and Nathan Jenden.
