Agyness Deyn

By Julia Robson

\r\n\r\n

Aggy has earned the right to pick any designer gear she damn well pleases being the muse of the moment. And yet she prefers to piece together her unique, kooky, DIY jumbly wardrobe. Each look is utterly fearless: rockabilly shirt, geek glasses, teensy shorts, vintage prom dress, flat pumps, clunking jewellery - and yet appears to have wafted straight out of the pages of a fashion magazine. Not many girls would keep that million-dollar bod and super-long legs hidden under several layers of tomboy MOD (model off duty) uniform. But then not many are like Agyness. Despite reaching dizzy heights her feet remain planted firmly on terra firma. Except of course when she\'s riding her Miss Marple-style pushbike around Manhattan, her new manor. Will the spiky bleach blonde become all grown-up and groomed now she\'s hit the Big Apple? Doubt it. Hope not.

Róisín Murphy

Roisin Murphy,celebrity style Roisin Murphy

The marvellous thing about Róisín, apart from the fact she is just so cool, is how she pulls off this highly individual style (punky New Romantic-meets-\'60s torch song chanteuse) while keeping one step ahead of fashion. Only this electronica pop/Nu jazz singer from Wicklow, Southern Ireland, could team vintage Westwood with new season Gucci and create something that looks made for her. Meanwhile her inner stylist works in key on-trend accessories, like long, bright leather gloves or cocktail hats to keep it looking fresh. As a result her videos are a feast for the fashion student and her stage costumes wouldn\'t look out of place on an experimental London designer catwalk. What sets this kickass blonde apart from Madonna, Alison Goldfrapp or Kylie is continuity. Róisín doesn\'t need to reinvent herself with each album release or fashion fad. Notable stylists still refer to her ‘Moloko period\' for inspiration.

Chloë Sevigny

Even her name sounds like a designer label. Which is handy because the sulky blonde actress (who was nominated for an Oscar in the movie, Boys Don\'t Cry, 1999) is fast becoming a designer in her own right. Well she was rocking horn-rimmed specs and \'80s revival blouses long before anyone else. When the Kate Moss for Topshop project was a mere twinkle in Philip Green\'s eye, America\'s most stylish celeb had already entered into a fashion ‘marriage\' with exclusive New York boutique, Opening Ceremony. Her line of  \"cute, young, affordable clothes with a bit of an edge\" was inspired by her personal style - grungy vintage, deliberately clashing prints, cutesy rock\'n\'roll, \'80s high school geek chic. The saucy minx got into trouble for posing nude except for a pair of slouch boots during the advertising shoot. Result? Sell out, natch. She\'s also got her own line of specs and shoes.

Alexa Chung

celebrity style,Alexa Chung alexa chung

You can tell Lexy doesn\'t have a pushy stylist in tow because a) she dresses her age and b) she mixes designer, high street and vintage in a way that usually works but sometimes doesn\'t. Happily, given her stunning looks (she was a former model), height and attitude (irreverence-meets-deadpan humour), enables this Brit chick to bluff her way out of any fashion faux pas. When she has worn skirts a little too short, or biker jackets far too tight, the result has been an instant trend. Having a cute/cult boyfriend, Alex Turner, lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys, as arm candy adds vital style points too. She\'s not even begun hosting her own fashion show, Frock You, and is already being hailed a fashion icon, snapping at paparazzi when they dared point a lens too close to her front row perch during the recent London Fashion Week.

Irina Lazareanu

celebrity style,irina lazareanu irina lazareanu

Don\'t be fooled by the hauntingly beautiful face or doll-like size ‘0\' figure. Romanian-born, French Canadian Irina has bad girl attitude and rock chick style. Her nickname is the Fashion Tornado because she broke the record for the number of shows in one season (76) and is always dashing out for a naughty fag. She\'s dated Pete Doherty and Sean Lennon but it\'s her dress sense Irina is most famous for. She is responsible for bringing back ‘Cher hair\' and inspiring designers Karl Lagerfeld and Nicolas Ghesquière. She came to London as a 13-year-old to study ballet and developed a taste for flea markets and for Pete, to whom she\'s been engaged... twice. There is some contention whether or not Irina co-wrote the song, La Belle Et La Bête which features Kate Moss on vocals and whether Kate and Irina are friends - or foes.

Cheryl Cole

Whatever Girls Aloud might wear onstage, off-stage the outfits of a certain member are winning accolades even from the snobby fash pack. Back when she was simply Cheryl Tweedy and modeling in posters for Eldon Square in her native Newcastle, it wasn\'t just her Wonderbra that got her noticed. Since being a judge on The X Factor, (or the phwoarr factor since she arrived), she\'s distancing herself from loud colours, fake tan, skintight dresses and Fat Slags hair extensions, all signatures of her Girls Aloud stylist. Chezza has proved a lot less chav, and a far more stylish replacement for Shazza (Osbourne) than we could ever have imagined. Her sophisticated new image involves wearing lots of pressed white shirts, printed pencil skirts and tailored trousers, and standing up to Simon Cowell. Canny lass Cheryl sure makes Danni Minogue look like one old trollop.

Alice Dellal

celebrity style,alice dellal alice dellal

This model and It girl/party girl is currently so hot she\'s on fire. Alice Dellal is astonishingly beautiful, but chooses to hide her to-die-for cheekbones and the goddess-like body inherited from her Brazilian supermodel mum, under a shaggy mane of part-shaved, part-long blonde hair. Other trademarks include a punky nose-ring, grungy leathers and staggering platform booties pinched from sister Charlotte\'s shoe line. Having spent the past month rocking up at various New York and London fashion week events in typical Alice-gear (micro minis-meets-Naughties grunge) the 19-year-old London-based model has finally been noticed by fashion\'s A-listers. A spread in the September issue of Paris Vogue shot by Mario Testino and the cover of Dazed helped too. So we can expect to be hearing and seeing a lot more of this punky social Princess (Daddy is a billionaire) whose name has been linked with Pierre Casiraghi of the Monaco Royal family.

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst,celebrity style kirsten dunst

Dunst grabbed our attention as a possible fashion-happening sort of actress on her first red carpet outing. Her choice of dress-down clubby disco frock, Blondie bed-head hairdo and trendy accessories all pointed to the fact there had been no stylist lurking in the wings. Off-screen Dunst wears skinny t-shirts with logos, little A-line skirts and Miu Miu winkle pickers and looks really cute. Just like any 26-year-old. We love the fact she was a former Ford model but chooses to wear gowns for lavish premieres in a sexy-streetwise \"very Kirsten\" way. No stylist, especially of the pushy American variety would have allowed Dunst to wear a silver beaded Versace gown with thick black opaques and mid-heel Louboutins to the Spider-Man 3 premiere. Although this get-up had most fashionistas drooling it was the antithesis of the usual red carpet razzle-dazzle. Respect.

Kate Moss

Kate Moss,celebrity style kate moss

When model agent, Sarah Doukas, famously discovered Kate at JFK airport, it wasn\'t so much her face or what she was wearing but the way she wore it that took her breath away. Take two equally gorgeous models, put on the same dress on both and work out why Mossy commands a million dollars a day. When Kate\'s on a shoot no stylist is required. Countless fashion legends circulate in the industry about how just a tweak from the famous model, or wearing a jacket upside down, inside out or back to front has gone on to create the next big thing. Kate\'s fascination with clothes without a doubt made her the supermodel she is. A new book dedicated to her style claims she has no fear about slicing a hem, ripping out a sleeve, or putting something priceless with jumble. Wearing the unexpected and unthinkable, has kept her in demand for well over a decade and she shows no sign of hanging up her stilettos just yet.

Natalie Portman

celebrity style,natalie portman natalie portman

One of the greatest actresses of her generation, Natalie Portman always looks as amazing off screen as she does on.  Her fresh-faced, paired-down, minimalist wardrobe is the antithesis of Queen Padmé Amidala, her character in the dreadful Star Wars trilogy. Natalie has been likened to a 21st century version of the young Elizabeth Taylor, only she\'s a flat-chested, strict vegan non-smoker who\'s not into diamonds or husbands. To give you an insight into Natalie, her current squeeze is the very hairy American/Venezuelan folk singer, Devendra Banhart and her best chum is singer with the high IQ, Moby. When it comes to clothes, Portman has a faultless track record and you can tell she makes all her own decisions . Favourite designers include Stella McCartney, Prada and Vivienne Westwood. Shoes come from her own vegan range, which sells at Barneys for around £200.
