Department stores

Hitting the department store sales is a given if you’re a big saver. Always good for bargainous top end designer pieces, they’re also great for investing in high quality, multi-seasonal classics, like bags.

Liberty’s sale starts on Tuesday, and with prices slashed by up to 60%, expect a stampede. Sensible shoppers should invest in cult items from Acne and Vivienne Westwood, as well as pieces by London ‘It Boy’ Christopher Kane. Our Liberty press office insider, Sophie Pate, recommends the accessories: ‘The leopard print Givenchy Pandora will be a sell out.’ We won’t disagree.

Over at Selfridges, you can also bag an accessory bargain or two, with all the big players at Mulberry, DKNY and Paul’s Boutique at reduced prices – think hundreds of pounds knocked off! If you’ve been meaning to get a new piece of arm candy but keep putting it off, we think now’s definitely the time.

For everything else, head to Debenhams, who have a great sale across all their departments. Expect to find leggings, bikinis, jersey and knitwear at newly cheap and cheerful prices.
