We're not sure when it happened, but somewhere between DJing for XFM and her current role fronting The Culture Show, Lauren Laverne caught our eye. It's not just the 30-year old's impressive career trajectory - from lead singer of cult indie group Kenickie, via various award ceremony presentations and TV appearances to her latest role presenting the Saturday show on BBC 6 Music radio - her family (she is married and recently gave birth to a baby boy), or even her knack for putting together original and chic ensembles that makes us admire her, but rather it's her
way of engaging with an audience. Her genuine interest in and knowledge about her subject indicate she's no slouch in the brainy stakes, while a general absence of stuffiness (commenting on a lack of sleep due to a new baby - or feeling fat post birth of said baby - as well as her on-screen chemistry with the oddly attractive Mark Kermode, the film critic co-presenter she repeatedly gently ribs), make her all the more endearing, not to mention placing her head and shoulders above the Fearnes and Ediths of the presenting world. In a rare free moment ("on a laptop once the baby's been put to bed"), she confides in handbag.com about what inspires her sense of style. -Danielle Radojcin
