Jason Wu wows
Michelle Obama makes another designer name at the inauguration ball. By Danielle Radojcin
Following her stunning turn in an Isabel Toledo outfit to see her husband being sworn into office, First Lady Michelle Obama turned to another relatively unknown designer to create her inaugural ball gown (although she chose to wear Jimmy Choo pumps for the second time for the second time that day). Jason Wu is a 26-year old Tapei-born fashion designer living and working in New York. Following his graduation from the prestigious Parsons School of Design he interned with Narciso Rodriguez, another Michelle Obama favourite. He's certainly come a long way since his eponymous debut collection three years ago: Obama's ivory chiffon asymmetric gown, flecked with crystals which caught the light as she twirled with her husband to the tune of At Last sung by Béyonce Knowles, will go down in history.
Other designer names checked at the celebrations include Chanel, worn by Jennifer Lopez, Oscar de la Renta (Hilary Clinton) and Milly (Jill Biden).
