Oxford St shopping bonanza
This weekend Oxford Street and Regent street will be transformed in to a pedestrianised heaven, an event sponsored by Australia, the new film starring Nicole Kidman.
Never have the words ‘VIP', ‘exclusive' and ‘shopping event' been flung about with such abandon. Following the success of last year's pre-Christmas shopping bonanza, London's Oxford Street and Regent Street will once more be transformed into a car-free zone this weekend. From midday this Saturday and Sunday, shoppers can enjoy music performances, fashion shows and general Christmas magic, with stores offering the kind of unprecedented special deals and pre-sale offers only a Credit Crunch of such magnitude as ours could inspire. Banana Republic, for one, will be staging its first-ever discount, with 20% off all stock; shoppers can even enjoy the sounds of the London Gospel Choir, who will be crooning in-store on Sunday. Best of all, it's a chance to get a taste of upcoming epic romance Australia starring Nicole Kidman (pictured) and Hugh Jackman (on general release next January). The film, which is a sponsor of the event along with Visa, will be taking shoppers behind the scenes, explaining how all the various elements that went in to creating it came together.
Saturday 6 December, 12 - 5pm (shops open until 9pm)
