Gucci's UNICEF party
There was a galaxy of stars out in New York last night to see multi-platinum MTV, Grammy and American Music Award winning singer Rihanna and Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini lighting the UNICEF Snowflake, an annual UNICEF event to mark the beginning of the holiday season. R&B star Ne-Yo performed at the ceremony, which was watched by Madonna, Blake Lively, Mary J. Blige and Timbaland among others. Next it was off to a cocktail party in the Gucci Fifth Avenue flagship store to celebrate the launch of the fourth annual Gucci Campaign To Benefit UNICEF. The campaign supports education, healthcare, protection and clean water programs for orphans and children affected by HIV/Aids in sub-Saharan Africa. This year Frida Giannini has designed a special white version of the Tattoo Heart Collection, which features a heart tattoo motif and iconic Gucci symbols on a wide range of accessories. This dedicated collection is in Gucci stores in over 20 countries between 19 November 2008 and 31 January 2009, with Gucci donating 25 per cent of sales. Belinda White
