Kate Middleton was given a new title today - Harpers Bazaar's Best Dressed Woman of 2011. The Duchess of Cambridge has been a firm fashion favourite ever since her tour of North America, where she stepped out wearing a multitude of new and established designers. We hope she enjoys her new crown!

For her surprise appearance at Wimbledon, Kate opted for a classic Temperley number. With its tiers and pleats, this little white dress meant the newly-wed royal looked perfect for an afternoon watching the tennis.

Kate played her role as military wife to perfection at the Irish Guards Medal Parade, wearing an Alexander McQueen tailored crepe navy officer’s coat with some serious military detailing in the gold buttons, epaulets and double-breasted style. She accessorised with a gold shamrock brooch borrowed from the Guards (and previously worn by the Queen and Princess Anne), and matching navy Anya Hindmarch clutch, satin court shoes and neat pill-box hat by London milliner Rachel Trevor-Morgan, worn at a jaunty angle.

For the wedding of her friends, Sam Waley-Cohen and Annabel Ballin, Kate made a clear decision not to steal the lime light by opting for a classic summer dress she’s be seen in way back in 2007. She teamed the black and white spotty shift dress with a simple black clutch and elegant black hat - a stock Kate style.

Jenny Packham was the designer of choice for Kate’s first official engagement as a royal, stepping out with her hubbie Prince William for the ARK 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner. She positively glowed in a nude, sequined floor-length gown, which highlighted her slim physique. Bow-detail LK Bennet heels completed the look.

At her first appearance as a fully fledged member of the royal family, Ms. Middleton decided on a demure, all-white ensemble, including summer 2011’s essential little white dress. She pulled on a white Joseph jacket over her floaty white Reiss dress, and swept her hair up into a ‘40s style ‘do before topping it all off with an elegant nude pill box hat.

When the Obama’s came to London, Kate stunned in a £175 nude coloured body-con dress from one of her favourite high street stores, Reiss. Showing off her post-honeymoon tan, she proved she can hold her own against fashionable First Lady Michelle Obama, and the dress was an instant sell-out, crashing the Reiss website.

On the evening of her wedding, Kate wore another Alexander McQueen gown, this time in white satin. The floor-length dress had a circle skirt, and was nipped in at the waist with embroidered diamanté detail around the waist. She covered her shoulders with an elegant shrug.

On 29th April 2011, Kate Middleton married Prince William in a breath-takingly beautiful Chantilly lace and silk tulle dress designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The world sighed in bliss as Kate stepped out from her car to reveal the dress we’d all been waiting months to see. With white lace sleeves, a modest sweetheart neckline, padded hips to exaggerate her enviable slim waist and full skirt with three metre train, she looked like a modern-day Grace Kelly.
