Ones the fiancée of Prince William, a princess in the making and a future Queen of England, the others a pop star princess and the reigning queen of reality TV as a judge on the X Factor. Together, Kate Middleton and Cheryl Cole are two of the most photographed women in the country, if not the world, revered for their down to earth warmth, beauty, and - albeit very different - sense of style.
We applauded Geordie Cheryl earlier in the year for finally dumping her love rat hubby Ashley, bravely battling malaria and triumphing as a chart-topping solo artist. But after rumblings with Wagner on this weeks X Factor and Gamu-gate (when Cheryl axed the Zimbabwean wannabe in favour of flaky Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd), the return of the dodgy cherry red hair extensions and some questionable fashion choices, is Cheryls crown slipping? And fresh from her engagement announcement is Kate ready to wrestle it from her as the new peoples princess? Will she overthrow Cheryl off the newspaper front pages as the countrys new tabloid darling?
And when it comes to style, who reigns supreme? Is it Cheryls all-Disney princess prettiness with a bulging wardrobe of skinny jeans, blouses, colourful mini dresses and glossy embellished gowns whos a designers dream and makes the X Factor a one-woman fashion show? Or is it Kate with her understated chic and regal sophistication in Issa gowns (her royal blue one sold out within a day of her engagement announcement), midi-length dresses, pencil skirts, blazers and hats? Let battle commence!
