When Felicity Jones was announced as the new face of Dolce and Gabbana make-up earlier this week, you would have been forgiven for scratching your head and saying who? That said, Ms. Jones sartorial star is on the rise, and weve fallen in love with the young British actress style in the past few months. Quietly snaking her way up the fashion charts, shes become a firm favourite in the Handbag office, finding her way into our Week in Style feature on many an occasion. But who is Felicity Jones?
The 28 year old Birmingham girl done good has been making small waves on TV and film for the last 15 years, starring in The Worst Witch as a young teen and working her way up to a part in national treasure The Archers in 1999. Now more at ease starring alongside the likes of Gossip Girl hunk Ed Westwick in fun rom com Chalet Girl or fellow bright young thing Jessica Brown-Findlay (thats Lady Cybil from Downton Abbey) in coming-of-age drama Albatross, shes starting to get noticed for her specific brand of English charm. Which means red carpets galore for us beady-eyed fashion folk!
One person who can be credited as first taking particular notice of the young actress is Christopher Bailey of Burberry, who always has his finger firmly on the pulse of fashion. Picking Felicity to model for Burberrys Autumn/Winter 2011 ad campaign, he clearly appreciated her English rose beauty; with her thick brunette locks, heavy fringe and freckled complexion, not to mention those sinewy limbs. Theres definitely something a touch Alexa about her.
But hes not the only one taking notice. Proenza Schuler have deemed the actress cool enough to dress, with Felicity wearing off-the-runway looks to the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards and The Hollywood Reporters next gen reception, which is almost unheard of with the brand only regularly dressing the likes of Kate Bosworth and Chloe Sevingy. Certainly not a bad club to be a member of!
We love Felicity for her refreshing take on red carpet dressing. If shes in an LBD, its got massive appliqué detail. Shes not one for flashing flesh, despite the fact shes got an enviable figure. Unafraid of tricky colours, she pulls off mint green just as well as nude gold. Mark our words: Felicity Jones is one to watch onscreen and on the red carpet.
