Style Icon: Lauren Hutton

Lauren Hutton (b 1943), is the all-American girl who knocked the stuffiness out of fashion and gave it a more natural look. Her carefree attitude towards her appearance (while a model, she refused to get the gap between her front teeth fixed) and her passion for travel translated in to a wardrobe which prized ease over fussiness. Although at the epicentre of Manhattan's glamorous party scene during the '70s, hanging out at Studio 54 with the likes of Halston and Bianca Jagger, she was most comfortable in a man's shirt and blazer with trousers and a trilby hat. The star of American Gigolo (1980) wasn't averse to cranking up the glamour volume, however, donning a sequinned dress or a white plunge neck gown if the event demanded it. Famous for ageing gracefully, she still flies the flag for natural beauty, and still, in her '60s, continues to model and be a style inspiration to fans including Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
