The world has lost one of the last vanguards of the Hollywood heyday with the death of glam actress Elizabeth Taylor, aged 79. If the British-born star was famous for her appetite for husbands, she was best known for her for raven-haired, porcelain-skinned beauty, va-va-voom figure and a flamboyant, trend-setting sense of style.
From immaculate off-duty looks to fantastical eveningwear, Taylor was a style icon and consummate dresser, favouring luxurious furs, sparkling jewels, paillettes and sequins, and bold use of colour – as well as some inspired headwear! From her early ‘50s starlet frocks to her ‘70s trouser -suits and embellished gowns in the latter years of life, she leaves six decades of style inspiration we can all learn from.
