Kate was scheduled to appear at Selfridges the day of McQueen’s death but the event was cancelled with a simple statement reading, “Due to the tragic death of Alexander McQueen, tonight\'s Kate Moss Longchamp event at Selfridges has been cancelled.”

When Kate became embroiled in a drug scandal in 2005, it was McQueen who put her back onto the catwalk. The model appeared not in person but as a filmed hologram, her ghostly apparition materialising in a glass pyramid. When McQueen took to the stage at the end of the show, his T-shirt was emblazoned with the slogan, “We Love You Kate”.

Sarah Jessica Parker got a lot of criticism for choosing this look for the world premiere of Sex And The City: The Movie in 2008 - though perhaps it was not so much for the dress as it was for the headpiece, which was designed by long-time McQueen collaborator Philip Treacy.
Parker, who arrived at the 2006 Met Ball on McQueen\'s arm, said of his death, "I am shocked and overcome with grief upon learning about the untimely death of the quiet genius Alexander McQueen. My heart goes out to his family and fall those who worked for and with him.”
Of his work, she added, “Every single inspired, original, lofty, whimsical, stunning, brilliant jaw-dropping detail was Alexander McQueen. There has never been anyone like him. And there simply never will be.”
