As well as being the Creative Director for Chanel, Mr Karl Lagerfeld also finds time to personally shoot their advertising campaigns. He frequently selects the girl of the moment as his new muse and is not afraid to embrace unconventional style icons; earlier this year he chose Blake Lively as the face of the Chanel Mademoiselle handbag collection, making her the first American to represent the brand. Now hes developed a crush (his word, not ours) on punk model Alice Dellal, and has chosen her to feature in his new campaign.
Alice, who is signed to Next Model Management, is famous for her renegade sense of style; she has sported a half-shaved head for years and often appears in her trademark ripped fishnets, cut off shorts and biker boots. Her unusual half Brazilian, half British looks have ensured that Alice stands out amongst her model peers.. She has modelled in racy campaigns for Agent Provocateur as well as for the jewellery designer Dominic Jones (who she went into business with after he was initially making jewellery in a squat) and in her spare time, she plays drums in her all female rock band, the tastefully named Thrush Metal.
Its safe to say that Alice is probably not the first person who you would associate with the elegant, conservative Chanel brand, however this is why we love Karl he may head up the worlds most legendary fashion house, but he still loves taking risks. The Boy Chanel collection is distinctly different to the rest of the line, and fits in perfectly with Alices persona.
From this behind-the-scenes shot of Karl Lagerfeld snapping away, it seems that Alice has been given a touch of the Chanel magic, but still retains her punk style. We cannot wait to see the final images!
